Art Works > Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.

This drawing was loosely based on Vincent's painting of a young school boy that sat for him. I liked in the painting the vivid coloured contrasts of the primaries and complementary colours and striated strokes, that are a prelude I think to the expressionist movement. The use of coloured pencils I find can let you draw and yet use colour at the same time, as usually these are separate in drawings according to some purists. As we know school children can pull a face when having to do homework. I think Vincent caught this mood brilliantly.
