This image was made prior to the current project but I have included it because I think it is a good example of the smudging technique and wash, I have employed during the current project. I have always liked Degas's
coloured pastel works. Which Francis Bacon greatly admired. I have changed the original source to black & white and added wash & smudging to give a feeling of movement and the use of the towel. Some critics have said that some of the images of women bathing by Degas have a voyeuristic quality.
