Art Works > Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.

Vincent van Gogh made some stunning paintings and drawings at the Fisherman's port of Les Saintes-Marie-de-La Mer near Arles. In this work I have brought watercolour and drawing together. I have introduced the use of of a white wax crayon to make sweeping strokes and highlights. The greasiness of the crayon rejects the watercolour leaving whites, a method favoured by Henry Moore in his mixed media works. A bit of humour in Art is not a bad thing, Vincent catching such a small fish to cook.
