Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.
This image is based on two different works by Rembrandt making a new composition. The drawing on the right is of Saskia, the original is a beautiful silverpoint drawing by Rembrandt. The drawing of Rembrandt himself is based on a painting and etching by Rembrandt. By using excellent quality coloured pencils, it allowed me to work in a free and flowing technique, not unlike Rembrandt's drawings. A visual game is at play in the work, as he is making a drawing within a drawing of the engagement ring he is later to give to Saskia.
