Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.
Jeanne Hebuterne first met Modigliani at the La Rotonde Restaurant-Bar in Montparnasse in Paris, it was love at first sight, Jeanne became his model and partner from that time on. In this work I have tried to incorporate Modigliani's elongation of the face and neck that was a common feature of his work. Modigliani was influenced by the art works of artists of African and Polynesian and possibly Iberian cultures. We only have to think of Picasso's Les Demoiselles d 'Avignon to see the influences of these culture's. I think it is important to look at art works from many other cultures as the ideas from them can inspire new ideas. Sadly Modigliani life was tragically cut short at 36 years of age due to illness.
