As a younger artist I was much taken by Henry Moore's superb Shelter Drawings,
created during a time of great stress during the Second World War . People took shelter
in the underground stations of London, like the womb of the city. I have tried with his
works as a bench mark to reflect my own times. The two figures shelter beneath a flimsy piece of wriggly cardboard giving little or no protection against the elements. Wriggly cardboard was used at one time to protect artworks in transit.. The two figures are depicted naked- if your are cold and homeless you feel like society has left you naked.
