Art Works > Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.

Guillaume Apollinaire was a French Poet, Playwright Novelist and Art Critic. He was a great champion of the Avant Guard in Paris in the early 20th Century, when great strides were being made in the Modern Visual Arts. This drawing after Picasso shows Apollinaire Picasso's great friend and supporter with a head wound received in the trenches in World War One. Picasso could at times in his sketches catch the essence of the sitter. I have used colour blue as a colour of remembrance, weakened by the severe head wound, Apollinaire died of the Great Spanish Flu Epidemic, that devastated the population at the end of the war.
