Art Works > Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.

I have always admired Leonardo drawings particularly in Red Chalk. The Red Chalk gives a warm glow when seen in certain types of light and was used for its warmer feel of fresh tones. The original red chalk was so exploited that it is very difficult to obtain nowadays, usually small amount are kept by museums for restoration work. The modern equivalent is fine and can be obtained in the form of sticks from most good art shops. This image of Mother & Child has been updated to modern times with use of Temporary Accommodation being used by many families. In this image the chalk image has been gently rubbed a method called stumping.
