Art Works > Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.

This year 2023 is the 50th Anniversary of Picasso's death. He lived a long life till the age of 92 years of age. His career straddled the 19th and 20th century with his work from The Blue Period, Rose Period, Cubism, Neo Classism, Surrealism, World War 2 and The Late Period. This drawing in Charcoal is based on the head in one of his last self-portrait drawing. Throughout periods of his life, the ancient Greek Myth of the Minotaur appears. Picasso identified himself with the Minotaur in a series of roll playing in his work. In my opinion he is the Greatest Artist of the 20th Century. In this work I have rubbed the charcoal with my finger and used the rubber to draw out high lights. NB: The sequence that follows covers many of his different periods.
