Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.
Picasso & Braque co founded what became know as Cubism. They followed the trail of Cezanne who had started to tilt in his still life's the objects towards the picture plane/surface. Picasso & Braque took this a stage further by shattering the traditional perspective view, creating an almost crystal multi faceted object . I liked the early stages of Cubism as the object and figure are still hinted at with it's multiple view points. Analytic Cubism though beautiful became to me to hermitic. Picasso with this drawing I have interpreted, started with a faint drawing of a seated man with a pipe, then started to break it up into angles ,planes and vertical and horizontal lines. The essence of the original turned into the visual language of Cubism.
