This year is the 125th anniversary of Vincent van Gogh's passing on 29th July
1890 in Auvers-sur-Oise.'The Iris Painter'. (in memory of Vincent van Gogh).This painting is a tribute to Vincent's painting of Irises, a small cameo as the painter holds just one plant. I have tried in this small series of works, to cover various periods of his life and the selected images he became famous for . In this case I have imagined what if he had lived to a much older age and carried on painting his powerful images of nature and humanity, through his use of vibrant colour and richly textured paint handling. He was a risk taker in the craft of painting of the highest order.
