This year is the 125th anniversary of Vincent van Gogh's passing on 29th July
1890 in Auvers-sur-Oise.'Starry Night Painter'. (in memory of Vincent van Gogh). I read somewhere that Vincent fixed candles to his hat so that he could paint night scenes like Starry Night. The artist said '' I often think that the night is more alive and richly coloured than the day '' and '' There is no blue without yellow and without orange ''. I have tried to be faithful to these words in the painting and the swirling brush strokes he might have used. His hat becomes almost like a small galaxy and his brush fiery as if he is painting the star itself. I think he was happy when he was painting nature, but as he said ''Real painters do not paint things as they are - they paint them as they themselves feel them to be''.
