At the time I had started to use discarded C.D.'s in skip sculpture and installations, I liked the reflective surfaces and the prisms they cast. I had done a lot of preparatory work before I left Belfast, drilling and tying the C.D's with fishing line. When attached to the mannequins in long strings they had a reptilian feeling, but caught the available light beautifully. These were placed in buckets of water so that the last disc floated on the surface.
My idea was that nature would reclaim them in the winter months, Jurgen has assured me this did happen in December in Berlin, the buckets froze solid, nature had reclaimed technology.
