As a young artist as a learning curve I passed through the different periods of the history of modern art.
I was particularly drawn to Constructivism, that short lived but exciting period of Russian Art,its influence are
still felt today in Architecture,Film and the Visual Arts. I have long admired the film by Sergei Eisenstein
The Battleship Potemkin. The artist Francis Bacon was influenced in his work by the film, particularly the Odessa Steps sequence. When invited to participate in the exhibition I decided to try to reinvent the Battleship from my imagination in the style of Constructivism. Some of the artists who influenced the work
would be Tatlin,Lissitzky,Malevich and Rodchenko. I would like to dedicate this work to the memory of the Art critic Robert Hughes.
