In humankind's pursuit of fossil fuels and their ever depleted reserves, drilling can take place in the most difficult of
locations and at great depths with great risks involved. With the result that from time to time disastrous spillages occur, polluting particularly
the worlds oceans. In the back ground of the image are two graphs depicting population growth and available
resources. Some theories have suggested that on Easter Island the tipping point of that graph occurred,
with disastrous results. The numbers in the painting are an approximation of the worlds population at the
time the painting was completed. Prometheus in ancient Greek myth gave us power over our environment,
perhaps we should use it wisely.
