This image was made during the build up to the vote for the ratification of the Good Friday agreement on 22nd May and completed toward the end of July 1998 . My own personal hope was that the vote would succeed and end the spiral of violence that had occurred up to the ceasefires in 1994. The concept behind image was the basic three steps in ballet. The Dancer on left symbolises good and innocence, the figure on right is more volatile, but also symbolises the energy change required to make a sea change to a more constructive path of sharing power and respecting each communities’ values. Sadly, three young lives were lost in N. Ireland after the vote in July of that year. The Political courage shown at that time by the negotiators of the Ceasefires 1994 and The Good Friday/Belfast Agreement signed on 10th April 1998 paved the way to Peace and eventual Power Sharing. Saving countless lives.
