Marie Therese Walter was Picasso's Muse from the late 1920's to 1937. Marie-Therese was very athletic and loved swimming and ball games. They would met in his Cabana a little beach hut as secret rendezvous. I have used the humble pencil in this work with stumping and vigorous use of an erasure to imply movement. The profile and an added part frontal head bring them both together. Picasso used the Pencil throughout his life.
