Art Works > Exploring Drawing Techniques and Drawing Materials: From the Ice Age to the present.

I have long admired Hokusai drawings and prints. He was a master of Brush, Pen & Ink and Wood Block print making. I first discovered his drawings and prints at the British Museum Print and Drawing Library which puts on regular shows and is worth a visit. In this drawing I have used a brush and blue ink, using the brush takes some practice as it is an exacting discipline. I pictured Hokusai taking a well earned break after a lifetime of work. Hokusai is famous for his print called 'The Great Wave' and his 36 views of Mount Fuji. The work of the artists of Ukiyo-e Edo Period Japan, greatly influenced the Post Impressionists who collected the prints of that period and changed Western Art.
