Dedicated to Beate Lemcke.
I first visited Berlin in Jan 1989 before the wall came down. When wandering around the city at night
it soon became an oppressive presence It reminded me of the walls separating communities in my own
native city, Belfast. By the time this pictured was completed the Berlin wall had all but disappeared.
I longed for the peace and lack of fear so that the walls could come down in certain ares of my own city.
The walls are slowly coming down in areas of the city to this day with the agreement of both communities when they are assured of normality, an ongoing process.
